Born in Toronto and raised mainly in that area, family did live in Sudbury and Ottawa for a couple of years. Both were different experiences but the one thing they had in common was the COLD! I did spend a lot of time in Northern Ontario, as this is where my parents families are from and so did get to experience a lot of the beautiful sights up north. This was very helpful to me in later years as my knowledge of places up north came in handy during my employment at a relocation company (most of the relocating employees I worked with worked for the Ontario Gov't and lived up north).
After marrying my high school sweetheart we joined my father in laws greenhouse business. We worked hard and learned a lot about family, self employment and life in general. Later my husband's career as a salesman in the produce industry took us to many places. I have lived in Leamington (Hothouse tomatoes & cucumbers), Bradford, ON - Holland Marsh (Carrots and onions) and then off to PEI (potatoes, of course) and then returning to Oakville, ON (still produce but managing a store). I had the opportunity to travel to many places in Canada during this time and meet a lot of wonderful people ( some not so much but always a learning experience).
During this time of travelling, I was busy raising our 2 children and always being interested in the real estate in those communities. Never imaging that I would have a career in real estate.
On my return to Ontario I started a part time job at a Coldwell Banker office in Bronte. I really enjoyed the work but the Broker was not able to offer me a full time position and asked me what else I might like to do. I said I really liked the people at the Canada Trust Bank across the street and thought I would like to work there. She knew the manager and I applied and was offer a full time position. From there I went to Canada Trust Relocations in downtown Toronto which was bought out by Royal LePage Relocations. I really loved that job. During this time we moved from Oakville to St. Catharines and I commuted for 4 years from here to Don Mills. As I said, I really loved my job but the time on the road was taking it's toll and so it was time to look for something else.
After spending a number of years working as a deal administrator at a real estate brokerage, I decided that it was time to get my licence and do what I had always wanted to do. Work directly with people and helping them sell or buy a home. So far
I can say that it has been most rewarding and very interesting and I look forward to many more years of excitement.
Of course I have to add that I have 2 wonderful children, 6 beautiful grandchildren and a very satisfying life with my high school sweetheart.
